Healing Journeys with Suzie Daggett
Dr. Amit Goswami, the very likable physicist in the hit movie "What the Bleep Do We Know", a physics professor (emeritus) at the University of Oregon and author of eleven books, including his newest, The Visionary Window, is returning for a second visit to our area. Last year, his lecture sold out! He will be speaking about his his long-term research into quantum physics, consciousness, science and healing. Dr. Goswami is one of those rare individuals who really walks his talk. He makes learning fun and interesting as he has the ability to explain difficult new theories in an understandable manner. He is a pioneer of a new multidisciplinary paradigm of science based on the primacy of consciousness, known as Science within consciousness.
What attracted you to become a physicist?
In high school, I wanted to be a historian. However, Einstein got me interested in physics. I started as a theoretical nuclear physicist until the following incident occurred: I was presenting a talk in Monterey for a nuclear physics conference. I was unhappy with my talk and spent all day being jealous of other physicists who were giving better talks and getting more attention. This continued until about 1 am, when I noticed that I had heartburn, and even with a whole packet of Tums trying to control it, I realized I was still green with jealousy. I went outside where the cool ocean breeze hit me right on the face and this thought came to me uninvited I didn't know where from: "Why do I live this way?" That was the beginning of a new journey into physics, nay life itself, and my true life's work of studying and learning about quantum physics, God and consciousness.
You are a physicist and pioneer involved in a scientific revolution and paradim shift – can you explain?
The shift is from a matter-based paradigm to a consciousness-based paradigm. In conventional science, it is assumed that everything is made of matter and all causality arises from matter. As you know, this view leaves out almost our entire inner experiential domain. What is not so well known is that the materialist view is inadequate for explaining major problems regarding the external reality of life. Materialist thinking cannot explain problems such as that of quantum measurement, of perception – how do we perceive, of biological evolution, of the origin of life, or of spontaneous healing. The new paradigm based on the primacy of consciousness explains all this and much more.
How is science shifting from materialism to the new field of understanding consciousness?
Gradually, the theoretical predictions of the new science are being verified in the laboratory and techniques are developing for technology based on the new science. At this point, we can say that there is an alternative science - similar to the concept of alternative medicine, building up and gaining recognition.
Can you explain what consciousness is? How does consciousness convert a possibility into an actual event?
Consciousness is the ground of all being in which the subtle psyche and gross matter both exist as quantum waves of possibility. When consciousness chooses from among these possibilities, the chosen facet becomes the actual event of experience.
Where does consciousness originate from?
Consciousness is the ground of being. It does not originate from anything. It just is. Awareness, the split of consciousness into a subject that experiences and objects that are experienced is created by conscious choice precipitating observation or measurement.
What is the structure of your all day workshop where you will be sharing insights on spiritual enlightenment?
This interactive, experiential workshop will explore the transformational power of quantum physics and the new science. For example, we will talk about the dynamics of the power of intention. We will explore vital energies, we will explore the creative process, and we will explore spiritual enlightenment. We will lay out a manifesto for what I call quantum activism.
