People struggle with thinking for many different reasons. Sometimes, it is caused by a health issue of which you may not be aware. It could be that the genetics in your family play a part. It might also simply be that you are not as young as you used to be.

But there is no reason why you can’t improve your cognition and have a sharp mind for the rest of your life.

The most important step for you to take is to never accept that your declining mental clarity is something that is inevitable. Rather, take it as a challenge and become proactive in improving the functioning of your brain.

Start with what goes into your body. What you eat and the way you eat is your first line of defense against slowing cognition. This is where the first attack on your thinking often starts. But, if you eat nutritionally, you will be able to stave off the inflammation that often leads to loss of mental clarity.

In addition, if you are eating the good food that your body needs, it will be able to use the insulin it produces more efficiently and keep fuzzy thinking away.

You will also need to stay physically active along with improving your nutrition. Just as important as staying active is the kind of activity you add to your daily schedule. One of the best exercises to improve brain health is high-intensity interval training.

While you are doing this training, give your brain a little break. Concentrating for long periods of time can lower the sharpness of your brain. It will also help to go for walks and take other breaks.

Meditation can also be good for your cognition. When you are meditating, your goal is to clear all thoughts from your mind. It’s very easy to become overloaded in our busy world, but if you take the time to focus you will not only be improving your memory but your mental clarity will improve as well.

Even if you only have a few minutes a day to meditate, you will still benefit from meditation.

Another very important way to improve mental clarity is to get enough sleep every night. When you do, your thinking will improve dramatically.

When you are sleeping, your brain is decompressing and resting. This allows your brain to relax and that’s when it gets rid of unhealthy waste products.

If you have trouble sleeping, it can help if you take a supplement to improve your sleep. This can boost your energy as well as sharpening your brain.

Don’t just accept that your brain is not as sharp as it used to be. Try some of these tips and you will notice that your brain is much less fuzzy.
