A healing practice more than 2,500 years old that utilizes universal life force energy is offered by the Reiki Guild of Nevada County in a weekly clinic at the Sierra Health Institute on Providence Mine Road in Nevada City.
Reiki was developed in Japan in the late eighteen hundreds, but the formula for accessing this energy is mentioned in ancient spiritual texts from Tibet and has been handed down as a healing tradition for over 2,500 years. It is based on the fact that all living things have an energy field. When that energy is imbalanced, pain and disease may result. Reiki treatments open, clear and align the body, mind and spirit, allowing this energy to flow into the recipient. Reiki promotes wellness through deep relaxation and assists the body in self healing.
Reiki is transferred from the hands of a trained practitioner to the receiver through gentle touch. The energy flow allows the receiver to to do the healing that needs to be done on all levels. The practitioner is simply the conduit for the universal energy.
Non invasive Reiki touch is a powerful companion to conventional medical treatment.
Reiki practitioners study with a trained Reiki Master and learn to approach Reiki energy with respect and reverence. Although Reiki is regarded as a sacred art, it has no religious foundation, no creed, doctrin or dogma. It is simply a nurturing transfer of life energy.
The Reiki Guild offers one hour appointments during which the client, who remains fully clothed, sits or lies down on a table. Two trained Reiki practitioners place their hands lightly on the client's body, starting at the head and working down to the feet. There is special attention to concerns such as back pain. The energy may be felt as a soothing warmth and is very relaxing.
The Reiki Guild is a group of volunteer Reiki practitioners whose goal is to provide a holistic, cost effective healing therapy to the chronically ill and anyone in need of healing. The guild also provides community outreach programs, public service events, information and education.
Funding for the weekly clinic is provided solely by the goodwill contributions of the clients.
