Getting What You Are Wanting
by Larry Kiser
Do most of us even know what
it is we want? How do we find that out? Are there universal laws
which operate even without us knowing it? If so, what are they?
Once we do know what we want is there some magic formula telling
us how to do it? The answer to these simple questions is the
subject of this article. There is a way to deliberately
create what we want in life. This brief article will show you how to
know and then how to allow it to happen.
How we attract
A first step is understanding
how the mind works together with the universal laws to bring
about exactly what it is that happens in your life. It’s
important to know that the mind does not know or recognize
the difference between what it imagines and what actually happened.
Thoughts have a reality that create physical reality outside
of yourself. Thus if you imagine a thing happening strongly with
emotion it is more likely to happen than not. This is true positively
and negatively. Here is a true story of a positive example of
practicing perfectly in your mind and creating a physical reality;
Several years ago a young man who loved golf but played only
well enough to shoot in his 90's was unable to play for seven
years. Everyday for those seven years he imagined himself playing
18 holes of golf. He saw ( Imagined) each shot and took each
step exactly as if he were playing perfect golf on the course
that he knew. He did this seven days a week for four hours a
day. When he finally could play for real he shot in his low 70's.
You see he was a prisoner of war in Viet Nam, shut up in small
cubicle where he could not even stand up. Golf was the thing
in his mind that kept him alive.
The way the universal law works
toward outside forces is this. When you imagine a thing happening
you are setting your intention. Intention is a conscious force
in the universe, that is to say, it operates independent of your
rational mind yet carrying out your intention. It works by virtue
of the law of attraction. This law is like this- every thing
is made up of atoms and molecules vibrating at a certain rate.
Science tells us that virtually nothing is really solid, although
everything appears to be. When you think or imagine a certain
thought you set in motion a vibration; this vibration goes out
from itself affecting the object of the thought and literally
drawing more of that thought to itself until ultimately taking
a solid form. Of course, this greatly simplifies the process
and there are invisible steps in-between, but that is essentially
the process.
I had an experience while writing
this article that illustrates the mystery of the law of attraction.
I was trying to print the article in a format that would not
attach to an email and really wanted to get it sent. (What I
was wanting). I was thinking of all the reasons to get it emailed
and went to Staples to see if they had a program that would work
with other computers. While “wandering around” I
ran into “accidentally”, a friend who is computer
literate and he told me how and volunteered to come to my house
and complete the project. I asked him why he came to the store
and he said, “oh, I had a few minutes to kill before my
next appointment and wanted some paper so just decided to stop
in. Now how likely is it that while working on an article about
how the universal law of attraction works, is it that the law
of attraction would draw to me (from seemingly arbitrary acts
of going to a computer store) the exact person to help get the
article out and who would illustrate the exact law being examined?
Here it all was, I asked (my desire, my intention), I trusted
without doubting that it would happen and then I followed my
intuition, impulse, or inclination to go where I thought I ought
to and, behold, exactly what I needed was provided.
A few years ago, a man named
Masaru Emoto wrote a book called “Messages from Water” in
which he proved, by taking before and after pictures of water
fast frozen to see the crystal form, that water changes crystalline
form when words are spoken, prayed or written over it. He says, “ Words
are the vibrations of nature. Therefore beautiful words create
beautiful nature. Ugly words create ugly nature. This is the
root of the universe.” The pictures in the book prove the
point.
Stretch your mind now to go
from the fact that words (thoughts) can change the actual structure
of water to, words (thoughts) can change the structure, content,
and all that happens to individuals. (We are, by the way 96 %
water at birth and about 70% water as adults) What happened in
the cases above is that our thoughts and patterns of thought
in the form of vibrations created what was being focused on.
Holding strong emotion to and putting feeling into thought created
it, that is brought it into form. The more emotion (a powerful
creative force) we put into what we are wanting the faster it
is created.
But you say, that is not
true- I wanted a red car or a new house for years and it never
came. The flip side of this coin is that you can cancel out
your positive thought with a contrary thought (and after a
time this contrary thought becomes a belief because of experience).
So, here you have the positive thought “I want a new
car- or better health” and then you have the thought, “but
I can probably never get it because... or I don’t really
deserve it...or, I just can’t afford it...” and
right there you have canceled the positive desire.
A further understanding
is that your wanting does not stand by itself, alone and unassisted.
The universal life force, what ever that may mean to you- begins
to reach out with you or for you the moment you commit to what
it is you are wanting. I think of it in this way. Life is always
seeking harmony, and, when you are wanting something you don’t
have, or do have but don’t want, life seeks to bring
that to you. Consciousness literally knows no bounds or boundaries.
So when you want something or even to know something, if you
really think about it historically you will see that somehow
you “happened” to find just the right person, ‘happened” to
read just the right book, or ‘happened” to see
just the right movie to answer your question or eliminate your
problem. The trick is to ask the right questions, to keep seeking
clarity and to be aware of what the universe is mirroring back
to you in the circumstances of your life, in the friends you
have and in the partners you choose. These all provide clues
to your inner feelings about yourself and what you believe
is possible for you as you create your life fulfilling your
own prophesy. When you imagine what you want, do it from the
position or attitude of the positive feelings. Thus if you
want more rain, see think and feel what it is like when it
is all green and grass is growing and the flowers bloom and
the garden grows. If you think from the negative- you will
attract the negative- so if you say I hate this dry weather,
etc., you just attract more of the same.
How We Deliberately Create
We create our lives by the
thoughts we have and the patterns of thought we hold in our
mind and body field. These patterns are energy vibrating at
a certain frequency and they act as attractors to other energy
patterns also vibrating at that frequency. We all know the
phrase “Birds of a feather...” or “like attracts
like” and we all find friends who believe more or less
like we do. How do we find each other? Well, quite simply,
we gravitate towards that which is dominantly within us. This
is the reason great mystics say “look within’,
and “the universe is within”. At the subtle level
we see atoms and molecules vibrating at a certain rate, they
bump into more atoms and soon start attracting other atoms
and soon there is a gathering of like minded atoms and molecules,
disguised as humans.
Let us take an example from
everyday life, something you want to change. Health comes to
mind or relationship. What do you think about your health?
Do you think you “catch” things from others? Then
you will. Do you think you must decline in health as your biological
clock ticks away? If your child “catches” a cold
do you accept because the collective consciousness does that
you must “catch” it too? Is it true that your child “caught” the
cold. If the flu is going around do you need to resonate with
that vibration, that thought pattern so that you can get it
too or get a flu shot so you won’t? Or, do you say to
yourself- you know, I never catch things, I can heal anything
in my body or mind and just because a group of people accept “catching” does
not mean I must? We can, in other words, change our health
by our attitude and words toward it. Try it, you’ll like
it!
So what if it is relationship?.
Again, what do you believe about relationship. Do you think
you need to be alone to accomplish your goals? Do you really
like men (or women) on an intimate basis? Do you think, I am “good
enough” or has your past experience (which is just based
upon your past beliefs) “shown” you that relationships
just don’t work for you? How we feel, think and believe
a relationship will be, is how it will end up being.
But you say, ok, how can
I deliberately create what I want in health or relationship?
Ok. What are you experiencing right now?. It provides a powerful
mirror of what you are “feeling” about yourself
towards that subject. Examine what you think and see if you
need be get some assistance from an outside source once you’ve
taken it as far as you can. Now, think about, imagine, what
it is you do want. Do not focus on what you do not want- that
acts as an attractor of the very thing you want to avoid as
the law of attraction works positively and negatively. As you
imagine you begin to create. You attract more thoughts of what
you want and it begins to build and you begin to notice little
by little things coming into your life that support what you
want. If you don’t know what you want try this; “I
want to know what I want” or I want to feel good” Once
I was driving along in my truck not feeling good and said to
myself, “I just want to feel good”. I repeated
this to my self a few times and looked up for some reason,
saw a beautiful sky near the mountains, then a shaft of light
and began to watch it. I started to notice the beauty of the
mountains and within a few minutes felt good. It is the little
things you do that create the larger things in life and thoughts
are the beginning point.
So, s say you are wanting
better health, and begin thinking about it so .a personal trainer
shows up to get you exercising, a way of eating is read about
and you follow it and now you are on the path. Keep following
it. Begin to notice how you are feeling and keep doing things
that bring you joy. Begin to see only those things you are
wanting to see in others and they will begin to show up in
yourself.
Conclusion
We create our lives by the
feelings, thoughts and emotions we hold on to. We can change
anything in our life by changing these factors. We stop thinking
about what we do not want and put our attention toward what
we do want imagining how it will be, the good that we will
feel and the positive aspects of what it will mean for it to
be present now.
