The Turnaround Point

Along with the seasons, we have turned around from the outward (yang) segment of our journey around the sun and are now moving on with our inward (yin) part of the journey. As we watch things change around us – and in us – let’s see what else we notice.
The ‘trickster’ coyote is a wonderful teacher and I feel his presence stronger than ever right now. He’s asking us, “Are you ready?” If we answer “For what?”, we’re probably not. But there are many who appear to be ready indeed, and are trying to encourage others to brave it as well. There’s nothing to be afraid of. There’s only the realization of our true freedom to look forward to.
What does the word ‘doctor’ mean to you? Did you know that the word originally meant ‘teacher’? That’s the first definition you’ll see in Webster’s - even today. But somewhere along the line, people started thinking that doctor only meant a fixer of human ailments. Why and how did this happen?
How many of you think that western (allopathic) medicine is ‘traditional’ medicine? How long before it’s debut in our world had ‘natural healing’ been around? Why is natural healing referred to as ‘alternative’, when it’s been here for us since the beginning of time? Who tricked us into believing that drugs and surgery are what we need?
How many of you think that our present ‘health-care’ system is truly a ‘health-care’ system? It’s not, you know. It is a ‘disease-care’ system. What is called ‘preventive medicine’ is no more than a process of looking for something wrong – in your blood, in your breasts, in your prostate… Methods like expensive blood testing, radiation to detect ‘possible’ undesirable growths, colonoscopies, etc. all generate huge revenues for someone. But how good is any of it for you?
How many of you have been tricked into being so fearful of diseases that you have accepted the concept of vaccines as being “the answer”? Do they make you feel safe? Wouldn’t you feel more confident if your immune system was strong and capable of taking care of anything that might try to weaken you? Do you know what vaccines do to your immune system?
The pharmaceutical companies (aka our government) consist of very greedy and controlling people. They are also very smart and clever people. They know they will lose their power over us (and much money!) as we remember our connection to Mother Nature and the healing energy she constantly offers us . . . free of charge. They’re getting a little scared right now because people are beginning to do just that. According to the latest statistics, one in four are seeking natural healing over western medicine – and this means diminished profits, and diminished power. To make sure the remembering doesn’t happen, they feel the need to regulate and control natural healing. In California, SB907 is how they have decided to do that. It is a bill designed to trick people by redirecting them ‘away’ from nature and natural healing. It is cleverly written to make you feel your government is listening and wants to take care of you while manipulating you into believing that you can receive high levels of holistic help from ‘qualified’ people – those who play their game. You will not.
At the same time you are feeling so happy about this pretend bone they are tossing at us, there is another bill that has been introduced that, if passed, will ban all but the weakest vitamin supplements from stores. Vitamins of higher doses will be “prescriptions” – at higher prices. These prescription doses are the same that many of you may take daily for general health maintenance. Does this not speak to you of what’s happening in our country?
SB 907 is being put into place to support the pharmaceutical companies. The true intention of this bill is to trick us into continuing to place our trust in an industry that is killing us. How will it do that? By discrediting and “proving” (?) to us that natural healing (as well as homeopathy, etc.) does not work, or that it won’t work without the help of drugs. How will it do this? This bill states that only schools that include the teaching of NON-natural methods, and support the use of pharmaceuticals, will be recognized as qualifying the ‘doctors’ who are licensable. The focus of those schools is not on natural healing.
You have access to practitioners of naturopathy right now. You always have. It is not now and has never been ‘illegal’ as some believe. You are not being denied anything at this time. That will change with SB 907.
This bill is designed to make you forget what naturopathy truly is. And it will do so by a process of mental manipulation – convincing you that naturopathy is something it is not simply by guiding you to practitioners who are not true naturopaths. A Doctor of Naturopathy’s job is to “teach” natural ways of regaining and maintaining health. It is not to ‘treat’ an illness or condition. There has been and remains to be no need for licensing in this field, not in this state or any other.
Specifically about the bill

The Council on Naturopathic Medical Education - the appointed accrediting agency named in the bill – is not recognized by the Department of Education. The schools supported by this bill created this agency. It was created ‘by’ themselves ‘for’ themselves because accrediting agencies of Naturopathy already in existence would not recognize them. One of the reasons for this is because they did not, and still do not, adhere to the true teachings of Naturopathy. Secondly, students themselves have taken the lack of quality education issue into their own hands by filing letters of complaints against some of these schools.
Drugs and Medical Procedures
The bill requires continuing education that includes: “at least 20 hours shall be in pharmacotherapeutics”. NONE are required for natural healing.
A ‘naturopathic doctor’ may prescribe natural and synthetic hormones, local anesthetics, epinephrine and furnish other prescription drugs described in subdivision B of section 3613.
Those who do naturopathic childbirth attendance “may administer, order, or perform any of the following:

Postpartum antihemorrhagic drugs

Prophylactic ophthalmic antibiotics

RhoGam
-
Local anesthetic medications

Intravenous fluids
-
Epinephrine
-
***MEASLES, MUMPS, AND RUBELA (MMR) VACCINE to nonimmune, nonpregnant women.

HBIG and GBV for neonates born to hepatitis B mothers.

Antibiotics for intrapartum prophylaxis of group B Betahemolytic Streptoccoccus.

There is nothing in this bill that supports naturopathy or natural healing.
Shall we learn from our teacher the coyote, or be tricked by a government that continues to take more and more freedoms away each day?
I propose that the folks who want to practice what is allowed under this bill get creative and come up with a new name for themselves. They are not naturopathic doctors.
So let’s strongly request of Assembly member Rick Keene that he votes NO on this bill next Monday. It should go to the floor on August 18th so please don’t put off contacting him. (It’s a little late for snailmail. Please fax your letter and/or at least call)

This could be a major ‘turnaround’ point for us in the area of healthcare in this country if we are only willing to look at the whole picture, recognize what is going on, and say NO to this bill. Remember that the process of turning around brings balance. I feel we definitely need a little more of that right now, in many ways. How many ‘freedoms’ have been taken away from us in the last few years? Let’s wake up, pay attention, and change that. Let’s not give our power away anymore. Let’s awaken to the coyote’s call and listen to his message. Let’s say with enthusiasm, “YES, we’re ready!” He really wants us to, ya know.
