In 1968, my mom became an astrologer. To this day, she still guides her life by the stars, as do many people. Every morning, I check my forecast. Do you? Some days the message makes good sense, other times, it just does not click. However, I do pay attention! When buying a car, we check with Mom to be sure the stars are aligned….it works! When we have paid attention, we get a flawless car. Otherwise, it’s in the shop. Naturally, astrology goes much further than car shopping. I asked a few of our local astrologers to answer this question: How is Astrology useful in the everyday world? Parashari Asha Muldoon, Vedic Astrologer Astrology is as old as the stars and used in many practical ways since ancient times when all astronomers were astrologers. Great gardeners align themselves with the 12 constellations and the moon for better tomatoes! Surgeons see better healing and less pain during the waning moons. NASA chooses launch windows very carefully with all the physical planetary positions. Bankers receive more money when Jupiter is unrestricted and hold back when Saturn is strong. Emergency rooms are notorious for being crowded during a full moon. With all that said, in this high tech complicated world, we have lost our attunement to natural cycles and Divine timing. With a little foreknowledge one can still smooth out rough spots and find ways to be in harmony with life, when the planets aren't favorable. vediclight.com 530-292-1030 Donna Fisher-Jackson The way I work with Western Astrology is to use it as a tool for guidance in your daily life. Once you have your birth chart done, it’s like having a personal map of your life’s journey. Throughout your life, you can utilize this map. As you go through life, the planets move into different signs, and interact with your birth chart bringing you new opportunities as well as life’s lessons. If you know about these coming opportunities and lessons, then you can be more prepared for the changes coming your way. Astrology is a tool to help you live a more conscious life. Knowing that there is a higher purpose to your life, you can begin to make choices with awareness. DonnaFisherJackson.com 530-477-7863 Mark Bankcroft In astrology, Mind and Sky are one. Everyday life is, by design, a subjective experience. To understand everyday life, you cannot separate the inner life from the life happening “out there.” Astrology, as a map of consciousness, shows the nature of a person’s inner drives, motivations, psycho-spiritual needs, their inner strengths and conflicts, which, of course, are encountered “out there” in everyday life. By knowing what is going on within, a person can better understand what is happening in their everyday life and why. Einstein’s equation E=MC2 tells us matter is energy. Likewise, astrology is a symbolic language of energy that provides archetypal insight into the meaning and purpose of one’s inner life and its reflection in the events and circumstances of everyday life. astrologybymark.com 530-274-2020 Suzie Daggett, constantly curious about the mysteries of life, publishes the Insight Directory and produces Insight Lectures. 530-265-9255, www.insightdirectory.com or www.insightlecture.com Originaly published in the Nevada City Advocate |
