January, 2010 “Doing the Great Work" Integrating Earth Cycles & Astrology within usOur key focus for this month is “Doing the Great Work”. In direct response to both the season and Astrological trends we are called to focus inside of our selves for the purpose of deep truthful soul integration. If we are each a microcosm of the greater whole then it is clear that doing this work, facing our individual beauty and our greatest fears is like a drop of water in a lake, bringing new possibilities to each other and future generations. We enter 2010 on the tails of a partial Lunar Eclipse on December 31st in Cancer (Moon)-Capricorn (Sun). In a Lunar Eclipse the Moon passes through the shadow of the Earth, momentarily interrupting solar and lunar electromagnetic flows. Full moons represent times of fruition of what has been intended at the new moon. They are also a time to let go of what no longer serves us. This energy interruption helps us sense, know and release more deeply then usual, as we experience our cosmic support more powerfully. We had the Sun, Mercury, Venus & Pluto all in Capricorn for this one. The planet Saturn rules Capricorn. Facing, accepting & coping with the reality of our physical world is highlighted. Feeling & forgiving ourselves for our fear & self-judgment helps in the emergence of our unique, individual soul expression based in self-love. Mercury turned retrograde on December 26th in Capricorn. It goes direct on January 15th, the same day as the Solar eclipse and January’s new moon. When Mercury goes retrograde we tend to have difficulties in communication & with mechanical objects breaking down. In Capricorn we will also be re-evaluating & re-considering choices we have made regarding how we are manifesting our lives in our physical reality. In a solar eclipse the Moon conjuncts (merges with) the Sun. This is a time of integration. The two-week period between eclipses can be seen as a tunnel. This period is an exceptional time to do deep internal work, surrendering to the unknown and seeing what we need to let go of. This experience will assist in the development of faith & trust in our individual intuitive & feeling natures. What we learn about ourselves can then become an integral part of our “structure”. The new life force energy that is freed from doing this will create naturally. What is needed right now is the willingness to let go and be open to the new forms that will & are emerging. Rewards are discovered through resting as much as possible & dreaming, writing, fantasizing, doing creative projects. Sitting by fires, sipping warm drinks. Allowing ourselves to play in the unknown, to learn more about trusting our true nature. Letting go of as many “shoulds” as possible, looking into the dark (where the light has not yet seen), without trying to change it or make something happen. Allowing our emotions to flow. Strengthening our winter muscles. We end January with an exact Saturn (Libra) –Pluto (Capricorn), square on the 31st at 4 degrees. If you have your chart, look and see where this falls. Especially effected are those of us with planets in the early degrees of Cardinal signs: Libra, Aries, Capricorn & Cancer. This is a significant arena for everyone between now and August of 2010 as this square continues to affect us and will be joined by Uranus & Jupiter mid year. The Saturnian theme of physical manifestation and how it will change continues. Watery Pluto bubbles, sometimes spews up from the underworld where we don’t usually like to go. It evokes our depths for the purpose of deep transformation. Through these times structures that are old and no longer aligned with our true selves will likely change, evolve & be re-created. We will see this theme all around us, as this is a planetary experience. By the end of August our world as we now know it may be significantly different.
